To prevent auto import from posting single item local events such as dinner reservations make sure you have your home location set in your TripIt profile. 

You can set your home location on the ‘About you’ page of your profile.   After signing in to your TripIt account on our main site (www.tripit.com), select ‘Settings’ from the drop-down that appears when you click on your user name in the upper right of any page and then click on ‘About you’ in the left nav bar. 

If you are already signed in, access the 'About you' page directly: https://www.tripit.com/account/edit/section/about_you.

How to enter your home location:

Enter you city in the box titled 'Home location' (you will be given a drop-down list of cities to choose from once you begin typing your city name).
