The TripIt widget for iPhone and iPad displays the most relevant travel plans you need, the moment you need it.

Home screen widgets

TripIt offers small and medium widgets for your iOS home screen or Today view. The widget provides a quick view of your upcoming travel plans and also acts as a shortcut into the app.

With iOS 17, the medium home screen widget is now interactive. Tap the up and down arrows to view other plans in your trip, right on your home screen. Tap the suitcase to go to the trip timeline in the app. Please update your iOS device to iOS17 and the latest TripIt version.

How to get started:

  1. Tap and hold an empty space on your Home screen or Today View (only option for iPad) until the apps start to wiggle.
  2. Tap the + icon in the top left corner (or top right for some devices) then search for TripIt.
  3. Select the TripIt medium size home screen widget.

Other key features:

  • See the most valuable information for your flight, including the flight number, departure time, and the arrival time—right from your iPhone’s home screen or as part of the Smart Stack.
  • Medium widget includes links to Nearby Places for cafes and gas stations and links to Navigator to see transport options to your next location.
  • Medium widget will display an indicator if a location is above your personal risk level.
  • If you’re a TripIt Pro user, you can see the status of your flight and departure terminal and gate information.
  • After you land, the widget will show you the next item on your itinerary, whether that’s a rental car reservation or a hotel check-in, so you always have the info you need at your fingertips.

Lock Screen widget

The lock screen widget displays your travel plans without having to unlock your iPhone.

How to add:

  1. Unlock your iPhone and pull down from the top to show the Lock Screen and notifications.
  2. Long-press on the Lock Screen to enter the edit mode and tap the Customize button.
  3. Tap the widget area below the clock.
  4. In the Add Widgets pane, scroll down the list to select TripIt.
  5. Tap the widget preview or drag and drop it into position on the Lock Screen.
  6. Close the Add Widgets pane by tapping the X in the top right corner.
  7. Tap Done in the top left corner of the Lock Screen customize mode.
  8. Tap Set as Wallpaper Pair the tap the Lock Screen to exit edit mode.

Why did the widget skip my plan?

If you have any non-flight plan within two hours of a departing flight, the widget will show you the flight plan instead.
