Navigator

Navigator shows directions between points in your itinerary.

TripIt’s Navigator feature helps you get from point A to point B more easily. Select starting and ending destinations from addresses in your itinerary (or your current location) to get directions through your mapping app. You’ll find estimated costs and travel times for each option (when available), so you can decide which works best. This feature is available on our Android and iOS apps.

Why use this feature?

When you're in a new city, you don't always know the best way to get around. We want to help you find the best route and take the stress out of navigating your way around an unfamiliar destination. With Navigator, you can quickly get directions between locations in your itinerary without needing to type (or copy and paste) the addresses into your mapping app.

Travelers may find it easier to use the mapping app that they are already familiar with, and with TripIt’s Navigator feature, they won’t need to type any addresses or locations. In addition, Google Maps and Apple Maps have additional capabilities that were not previously available in TripIt’s Navigator feature. For example, users can edit their starting or ending locations to any custom location, not limited to locations within their itinerary. Also, users can take advantage of seeing other saved locations within their mapping app, which may influence their preferred route.

How it works:

  1. From the TripIt app, open your trip.
  2. Tap a trip item (flight, accommodations, restaurant reservations, car rental, train, ground transport ferry, parking or activity) from your itinerary.
  3. Scroll down to Navigator, select origination and/or destination points, and tap 'Find Transportation Options'.

From here, TripIt will open your mapping app and plot the selected points to map the directions.
